For Minahil...
I could see her fidgeting in her bouncer amidst her sleep. I stopped typing, kept my laptop to a side and went over to observe. Seemed like she was either having a bad dream or may be tummy troubles. She opened her eyes slightly, was about to break into a loud wail. I brought my face closer and smiled. She started, then stopped. And there it was - instead of a cry, the brightest smile ever. A full toothless grin. I hadn't yet uttered a word, I had only smiled. And to know that her smile meant that at this point in time, at this age of hers, nothing means more to her than seeing my face. May be tomorrow, she will have more things to smile for/at. But as of now, this one smile boosts my self-esteem like no praise in the world can. And for now, I would not be anywhere else in the world, not be absent doing anything but sit right beside her bouncer, looking at her smile at me like I mean the world to her.
